Christchurch Earthquake: 10 years on
Abstract
Many of us were personally impacted by the Christchurch Earthquake, while others in our community who are relatively new to New Zealand may not be that familiar with what happened on that fateful day on 22 February 2011. Ten years on, it is more important than ever to remind ourselves of the earthquake and its impacts. With the passage of time we can reflect on what we have learned and the changes in NZ since 2011. Have we learned enough? Have we done enough? This presentation will provide a structural engineer-’s views of the event, its impacts, and some reflections on what has changed since 22 February 2011.
